At Global BA GmbH, we are excited to introduce a major reliability milestone in power electronics substrate technology.
We are the first supplier able to provide ZTA-DBC substrates achieving thermal cycling reliability up to 1,000 cycles (1) under demanding conditions of -55°C to +150°C.
Conventional ZTA-DCB solutions typically show failure mechanisms after approximately 200 cycles, which has long limited their use in highly demanding applications such as automotive traction inverters, renewable power modules and high-reliability industrial systems
The breakthrough is enabled by a newly engineered high-performance ZTA ceramic that delivers more than 17% higher bending strength, over 70% higher fracture toughness, and more than 300% improvement in thermal stability (2) while maintaining comparable electro-thermal performance to standard ZTA-DCB solutions.
Even more important, this performance upgrade is achieved without introducing cost barriers, allowing customers to access significantly improved lifetime reliability while maintaining competitive DBC substrate economics.
This development opens the door to extended mission profiles, higher power density designs and improved long-term system robustness, especially for applications exposed to extreme temperature cycling and mechanical stress.
